Our story
St. Kizito Catholic Church, Iju has served as a home and haven of spiritual development for decades, growing from a small mission chapel into a parish church seating about five thousand worshippers, with a parish hall, offices and ample grounds.
We are a vibrant, multi-ethnic community. Masses are celebrated every day of the week, and a rich calendar of societies, devotions and outreach binds the parish family together.
The parish belongs to the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos and stands on Iju Water Works Road, Iju-Ishaga.
We, the parish family of St. Kizito Catholic Church, Iju, are committed to sharing our Time, Talent and Treasure through worship, liturgical development, spiritual formation and outreach.
To be a Eucharistic parish family where every soul in Iju finds Christ, is formed in the faith and is sent out to serve - young and old, of every tribe and tongue.
Saint Kizito, Martyr of Uganda
Kizito (1872–1886) was the youngest of the Uganda Martyrs. Baptised by St. Charles Lwanga, he went joyfully to his death at Namugongo on 3 June 1886, aged just thirteen. He was canonised by Pope Paul VI in 1964 and is the patron of children and primary schools.
